Eduardo Pretell discovered this stark yet serene landscape in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve in southwestern Bolivia. A native of Peru now living in California, Pretell says "I love being outdoors and the challenge of trying to express the beauty I see in nature through my photography." He feels that private organizations, communities and governments must work together to protect irreplaceable resources. The Nature Conservancy and a local partner are designing a conservation plan for this high priority area, home to three different species of flamingo as well as condor and vicuna.
